My life forever changed the day I got a call from my childhood hero asking if he could use a song I had written about him in his video autobiography.. A door opened that took me on a ten year singing cowboy ride. I not only got to meet Roy but became friends with him. When he passed away the folks in his hometown of Portsmouth Ohio asked if I would come do a tribute to Roy at the same time his funeral was going on in California. I did that standing in front of a beautiful twenty five foot mural on the flood wall of the Ohio River. I think it was one of the most satisfying things I ever did giving back to someone who had given me so much in my life.
